Spotted Lake Osoyoos BC

While looking for a place to visit in Osoyoos, I came across a site where they talked about Spotted Lake.  The name itself sounds odd and the more  it sounds interesting for me. Located in northwest of Osoyoos in the eastern Similkameen Valley of British Columbia, Canada, this lake can be accessed just along the Highway 3. You can easily miss this tourist spot, we were just lucky to “spot” it because there were some cars stopping by the shoulder of Highway 3.  The area was gated because it was inside the First Nation’s private land.  You could only take photos from the fence and just take  a look at this wonders of nature.

This is the road before you reach the Spotted Lake

So are you curious enough  how this become Spotted? It’s because Spotted Lake is concentrated with a variety of mineral deposits. During summer, the water evaporates revealing colorful mineral deposits. So depending on the season, the spottedlake has different colors due to its mineral composition and seasonal amount of precipitation. For better viewing, the best time to go here is during summer season.  I wonder if we could still see some spots on winter.

The First Nations originally call this as Kliluk, this was a sacred place for them for healing because the water was therapeutic.  According to the signage, there will be a project to construct a viewdeck for this tourist spot. Maybe in the future, we will have a closer view of this fantastic tourist destination.

We just stayed here for a few minutes because there's nothing to do here aside from taking some photos. This is the closest I can zoom-in with my lens. After this, we head to our hotel Holiday Inn Osoyoos.
